How to read a chart

Buy nowPrice is above the 200-day average line.
OK to buyUp to 10% below the line while the line is still rising or flat.
WaitMore than 10% below the line, or below a line that's falling. Buy after a Friday close back above it.
Buy in piecesIf the S&P 500 below is under its own falling 200-day line, spread any buying out.
The 200-day average is the average closing price of the last ~10 months. Judge on Friday closes, not mid-week moves. Why this rule
